How Forest Measurement Ireland handles personal data.
Short and plain, because that is how we work. Last updated October 2026.
Who we are
Forest Measurement Ireland Ltd (FMI), registered in Ireland, company no. 508010, VAT no. 9815611D. Registered office: Clonmore, Mooncoin, Co. Kilkenny, X91 F2Y5. Phone 086 820 8311, email fmiforestry@gmail.com. FMI is the data controller for the personal data described here.
What we collect through this website, and why
When you use the enquiry form or email us we hold your name, your email address and phone number, who you are (a forest owner, a developer, a fund or public body), and what you tell us about your land or your project. We use it to answer you, to prepare a written estimate, and to carry out any work you then ask us to do. The legal basis is the steps you ask us to take before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in running the business. We do not sell or share enquiry details with anyone else, and we do not use them for marketing you have not asked for.
Aerial survey imagery
Our drone surveys are flown over forests and development sites. The photography and LiDAR we capture may incidentally include dwellings, vehicles or people at the edge of a survey area. That imagery is used solely for the survey the client commissioned, stored on access-controlled systems in Ireland, shared only with that client, and is not analysed, searched or retained for the purpose of identifying any individual. Flights are planned to keep away from houses and people, and every flight is risk-assessed and flown under our Irish Aviation Authority operator registration (IAA-2021-28153).
How long we keep it
Enquiry details are kept for as long as we are dealing with your enquiry and, if it becomes a job, for the life of that work plus the period our professional and tax obligations require. Survey data is held in a secure archive for six years unless the client asks us to delete it sooner.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 you can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to our processing it, or ask for a copy in a usable format. Email fmiforestry@gmail.com or write to the address above and we will reply within a month. If you are not happy with our answer you can complain to the Data Protection Commission, dataprotection.ie.
Cookies
This website sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and no cookies at all are needed for it to work. If we add visitor statistics we will use a service that works without identifying you, and we will say so here.
The enquiry form
When you send the form, your answers are emailed to us from this website’s own server; nothing is stored on the server afterwards. The form includes a hidden field that only automated programs fill in, which lets us discard spam without asking you to solve a puzzle.
Changes
If this notice changes we will post the new version here with the date it took effect.
